If you are worried now
Contact your treating team first and describe the wound: where the redness reaches, whether that edge has moved since you last looked, what the discharge looks like, and whether you have a fever or feel unwell. If the team cannot be reached, call the hospital main line. For a red-flag finding — spreading redness, a red line tracking up a limb, fever with chills, or skin that has turned dusky or black — go to the nearest emergency department immediately rather than waiting for a reply. This website is not an emergency channel and is not monitored as one.
Arranging a review
Non-urgent concerns — a wound edge that is red but not advancing, a small amount of discharge that is not changing, soreness that is settling — are raised with the team that performed the procedure, or through the outpatient clinic of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital, 301 Huafu Avenue North Section, Jiulongpo District, Chongqing. Say when you had the procedure and what it was.
What to bring
The date and type of your procedure, a list of your medication including anything you have taken since, and a photograph of the wound taken in good light with the time recorded. If you marked the edge of the redness on the skin, say when. A comparison across an hour is more useful than any description of how the area looks.
What the assessment covers
The history first, then an examination of the wound and of the tissue around it, the lymph nodes that drain the area and the limb as a whole. A sample is taken where it will change the choice of treatment. Blood tests and imaging are added where there is fever, where the infection appears to be spreading, or where an implant is involved. You should leave knowing what was found and what happens next.
Fees, records and privacy
This site does not quote prices, because the plan depends on the findings and is discussed directly at consultation. What was found, what was sampled and what was started is documented so that the record follows you, which matters where an implant is involved or where the area has been operated on before. Clinical information is held under the hospital's records and privacy policy.
